The basic design includes a low-pressure piston (LP), a high-pressure piston (HP) and a bistable directional valve (BV1). A check valve (DV) is an optional feature.

Under system pressure, hydraulic fluid flows to port IN. Fluid flows through port H through DC check valves KV1, KV2, and DV (if available). At this point, all the fluid passes through the booster, and then the high-pressure side H cylinder moves forward quickly. As the hydraulic cylinder encounters resistance, the pressure on the high-pressure side H increases until it reaches the pressure provided by the hydraulic pump. When the pressure provided by the hydraulic pump is reached, the check valves KV1 and DV are closed and the hydraulic oil flows to Vol 1. The bistable valve BV1 is connected to Vol 2 to the tank via Vol 3. After the pump pressure is transmitted to Vol 1, the piston moves downward.

When the piston moves downward to the bottom of the valve, the pressure of pilot oil supply 1 increases, which causes the bistable valve BV1 to change position. The fluid is directed to Vol 2, and the piston moves upwards, delivering fluid at greater pressure. *** In the end, the pressure is determined by the space ratio of the low-pressure piston LP to the high-pressure piston HP.

Once the high-pressure piston HP moves to the top, the pilot oil supply 1 will be connected to the fuel tank, the bistable valve BV1 will return to the original position, and the cycle will repeat until the required end pressure is reached. When the end pressure is reached, the supercharger stops operating and only runs again when it is necessary to maintain the pressure on the high-pressure side H.

Pressure can be relieved from the high-pressure side through the pilot check valve DV (if any). By connecting port R to a pressure source and port IN to the tank, the pressure of pilot supply 3 will increase, allowing fluid from the high-pressure side H to flow back to the tank.
