Yes, this week’s Aussie Curves Challenge was pretty broad – and I liked it! The theme was ‘song’ which pretty much meant the choices were endless! So, I may have gone into Select Sweets – my favorite candy store of all time, last week. I had to go in their to buy some Thank You Chocolates for the nice family up the road that collected my naughty hounds when they escaped a couple of weeks ago. Hugo, who you know cos he is in many posts with me, has decided he can open doors by jumping and pushing down on them. So, he decided to open the gate and him and Bonnie went a-wondering, thankfully, a family found them and kept them at their house til I came home and found a message on the answering machine telling me they had them and called the number on their collar. Make sure your dogs have tags ay!
Anyway, back to the candy! Yes Select Sweets is heaven for me, but I force myself not to go there cos I just go nuts. They have such a great variety and so much deliciousness. So there I was, planning to buy a box of chocolates and suddenly I had a bag of Licorice Allsorts, a lollipop, a bag of choc honey comb, Rocky Road, and some Freckles….and the box of chocolates balanced precariously on top. Heheheh! Anyway, the brothers that work there have known me since I was a kid and giggled at me. It didn’t help that my sister called in the middle of this buying spree and I was like ‘Oh, I am just at Select Sweets buying a few things I need’ – I wasn’t fooling anyone! So, with the surplus of candy in my house I decided to go with a Candy Song inspired post.
So, here are some of the songs that inspired me: Candy by Mandy Moore, Liquorice by Azealia Banks, Candy by Iggy Pop, My Boy Lollipop by Millie Small, Lollipop by The Chordettes and many more.
Once Kristie (who also took the photos from this witchcraft inspired shoot) and I had the basic Lolly theme, we knew what I needed to wear! Bright stuff! So, I combined the tee you’ve seen in this Aussie Curves Secondhand post, and my tailor-made shorts by Red Pearl from the Aussie Curves Sequins post. I paired this with my shoes from Target, a denim jacket and crazy hair donut buns with some PHO sizzle scrunchies! Oh, and crazy Korean eyelashes and an edible necklace, cos, yum! These eyelashes are similar to the ones I wore in my Lost Mermaid post, I am so glad I bought a fuckload back with me from Hanoi, I mean, they were about $3.50 there, whereas I’ve seen feather eyelashes here for a LOT more than that.
As far as editing, we used the ‘diffuse glow’ tool in photoshop, which, amazingly enough I did a tutorial on, but have since deleted it! I guess that is what happens when you have 3 years worth of content, you cull some…We also burned the background to make me stand out more, and added more blue tones. I am pleased with how they turned out, we were a bit worried they’d look kinda porn-y, or just mental in a bad way, but we both think they turned out well.
Good photo, but reminds me of a certain twerking, tongue-sticking-out, former tween disney star… bah!
This is Kristie telling me to try and fit ALL the candy in my mouth! Hahah, didn’t work!
Shirt: thrifted and cut into a crop Shorts: tailor-made by Red Pearl in Hanoi Shoes: Target Jacket: Jay Jays Scrunchies: PHO sizzle Eyelashes: bough in Hanoi from 65 Hang Ma, but can buy similar here. Candy: Select Sweets
So, there you have it. Now, I’m going to listen to Mandy Moore again, cos, I LOVE her!
Don’t forget to check out the other Aussie Curve ladies and what they do with this week’s ‘song’ theme!
