Who knows the Lana Del Rey song Dark Paradise? Well, you can listen to it on youtube here, but it is in my head and was a suitable title for this post. I’ve been a bit sick and tired these days, and, honestly, missing my friends from places I lived in before Melbourne. Not that Melbourne and the people here aren’t wonderful, but those friends in Hanoi, Istanbul, Perm and Ulsan and all the places they might be now, makes me so itchy to travel, and then, there’s someone in Dakar that I really want to see too… Why do flights have to be so expensive, and why do visas have to restrict people? Ohh, I know there are ‘logical’ reasons for these things, I’m just complaining I guess cos I’m tired and cranky…I’ll concentrate on Pho Sizzle and doing the best I can at this business venture, and hope that somehow my blues at missing friends will dissipate or that circumstances will change…or that Pho Sizzle will be such a huge success that I can have enough money to fix these things that make me depressed…
“Every time I close my eyes
It’s like a dark paradise
No one compares to you.”
Top: Senegal Skirt: Red Pearl Tailor in Hanoi Boots: Hoi An Sunnies: Jay Jays Lipstick: Fixed on Drama by M.A.C Hair: Fudge
This is one of those outfits that really doesn’t need to explain where I bought things from, since it is all from tailors, except the sunnies. The top is part of the beautiful outfit my Senegalese friend’s family got me as a present. I have worn the full outfit here, and the skirt with a crop top here. The boots are from Hoi An; the shoe-making capital of Vietnam, and the denim skirt is from my favorite Hanoian tailor Red Pearl.
“Loving you forever, can’t be wrong.
Even though you’re not here, won’t move on.
Ahhh, that’s how we played it”
Happy Friday everyone! Hopefully my opposite-of-homesick-blues will go soon, but, in the meantime, know that… I miss you!
